‘Disappointing’ silence on universities in spending review

Frustration at lack of attention for universities, but research funding welcomed

Several higher education experts have highlighted the “disappointing” silence on universities in the government’s spending review, while others have praised its commitments to research.

In a spending review which chancellor Rishi Sunak used to pledge £15 billion to make the UK into a “science superpower”, there was relatively little for universities.
