Donelan holds firm on question of tuition-fee refunds

Westminster debate results in stalemate, while think-tank warns refunds would harm low earners

Universities minister Michelle Donelan has again refused to consider government-backed tuition-fee refunds for students whose teaching has been disrupted as a result of industrial action or the Covid-19 outbreak.

Donelan told MPs during a Westminster Hall debate on 16 November that mass refunds “would make little difference to the money in students’ pockets”.
