EU students blocked from tuition fee loans in 2021

Brexit means EU students will be treated as international students from next year

Students from the European Union will not be able to access loans from the 2021-22 academic year as they will no longer be counted as home students, universities minister Michelle Donelan has confirmed.

In a written statement on 23 June, Donelan (pictured) said EU students, Swiss nationals and those from the European Economic Area would “no longer be eligible for home fee status, undergraduate, postgraduate and advanced learner financial support from Student Finance England” from this date because of Brexit.
