Scrap student loan interest for 15 months, say vice-chancellors

Six university leaders call on prime minister for loan interest holiday

A group of vice-chancellors have called on the government to offer more support for students during the pandemic, including a 15-month reduction on student loan interest.

In an open letter sent on 2 February, six vice-chancellors from institutions including the universities of Essex, Kent, East Anglia and Sussex said Covid-19 had “placed unprecedented pressures on our students” and urged the government to step in with more funding.
