Reinstate two-year post-study work visa, urge cross-party MPs

International students should have the right to work in the UK for up to two years after graduation, according to a proposed amendment to the government’s post-Brexit immigration bill.

The amendment calls for the reintroduction of the post-study work visa, which ended in 2012, and for international students to be excluded from any future net migration target.

It was tabled on 25 April by Jo Johnson, former science and universities minister and Conservative MP for Orpington and Paul Blomfield, Labour MP for Sheffield Central and co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on International Students.
