Johnson defends tuition fee status quo in England

Jo Johnson, the universities and science minister, has said that the tuition fee system in England will stay put.

Fees will rise in line with inflation, he confirmed in an emergency debate held in the House of Commons on 19 July.

Johnson said the government had made it clear as far back as 2015 that tuition fees would rise.
