An influential group of MPs has piled pressure on the government to offer a “clearly labelled and attractive” post-study work visa for international students.
In its latest report, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Students urges the government to make the UK a more attractive destination for overseas students by offering a two-year post-study work visa that is unrestricted by job type or salary.
The UK has seen its international student market stagnate in recent years while other destinations, such as Canada and Australia, have experienced growth. In September, the Migration Advisory Committee failed to back a two-year work visa for international graduates despite vocal support from groups including the vice-chancellors’ body Universities UK, which has pitched its own Global Graduate Talent Visa.
