Prime minister issues warning over global growth, writes Alison Goddard.

David Cameron has signalled further austerity ahead of the autumn statement that is due to be delivered by the chancellor of the exchequer on 3 December. Writing in The Guardian today, Mr Cameron highlights how weaknesses in the economies of the UK’s European trading partners plus instability and insecurity elsewhere in the world threaten the UK’s economic growth

Meanwhile Northampton University plans to borrow almost £300 million to build a new campus in a bond scheme backed by the Treasury. The Guardian says that the move will leave the university with debt servicing costs of about £10 million a year, which it must meet from an annual income of about £100 million. It also says that the University of Kent has borrowed £75 million from the European Investment Bank.
