Scottish National Party to support lower tuition fees

It would back £6,000 fees south of the border, writes Alison Goddard.

Tuition fees in England would be reduced, should Labour form the next government with the backing of the Scottish National Party. The party is due to publish its election manifesto today. The BBC says that it is expected to include a pledge to back Labour’s promise to cut tuition fees

Meanwhile student voters are equally likely to vote Conservative as Labour, with both parties on 31 per cent in a recent poll, reports the Financial Times. It says that (£) the Greens are on 25 per cent, while the Lib Dems and the UK Independence Party both polled just 1 per cent. The Scotsman reports the same survey with the shock headline: "Students at St Andrews ‘most likely to vote Tory’."
