Part-time study, full-time crisis

Another week, another report on the crisis in adult education.

Research out this morning claims that the future wellbeing and prosperity of the UK will be at risk if the government and universities do not arrest the catastrophic decline in mature student numbers.

It’s not like we haven’t heard such warnings before. Indeed, Liz Bromley, acting chief executive of the University Alliance, puts it well in her response to today’s UPP Foundation Civic University Commission Progress Report, saying: “We’ve had report after report warning about the long-term consequences and government after government pledging to tackle it—but we’re still not on track.”
