The other industrial strategy

The “brains behind Brexit” has outlined an alternative future for UK science and research.

It is often said that Brexiteers have failed to offer a plan for how to make leaving the European Union actually work. Neither the so-called European Research Group nor Brexit-inclined cabinet ministers (present or former) have ever produced an alternative plan for the reality of departing the EU.

Accordingly, it is of interest that Dominic Cummings, the director of the official Brexit campaign Vote Leave, has laid out a vision for science and research in a post-Brexit Britain. Cummings was a special adviser and chief of staff to Michael Gove during Gove’s time as secretary of state for education.
