Universities UK tells us about the Joint Expert Panel, and Research England responds to our mock Knowledge Exchange Framework.
The University and College Union has so far done most of the running in interpreting the meeting of the Joint Negotiating Committee of the Universities Superannuation Scheme, while Universities UK has preferred not to comment. Yesterday evening, however, UUK gave HE its thoughts.
On Monday, the union updated members with the news that the JNC had set aside the proposal for a defined contribution scheme and that terms of reference for a Joint Expert Panel had been agreed with UUK. However, the union also said that if the JEP does not come to a conclusion in time, the USS trustee intends to invoke rule 76.4 of the scheme, resulting in mandatory increases in contributions by both employers and employees.
