It’s my party (and I’ll UKRI if I want to)

UK Research and Innovation launches its strategic prospectus.

Don’t you hate it when you share a birthday with someone else who attracts more attention than you do, and you have to shift your birthday party to another date? So it was with the official launch of UK Research and Innovation, the umbrella research council that came into being on 1 April at the same time as the Office for Students.

UKRI held a launch event in London at the British Library last night. An impressive array of the great and the good assembled to hear speeches from chairman John Kingman, chief executive Mark Walport, business secretary Greg Clark, universities and research minister Sam Gyimah, and Jennifer Rubin, executive chairwoman of the Economic and Social Research Council.
