Contrasting locations present big challenges for UK higher education

This morning Playbook is in Dublin for the British and Irish Chamber of Commerce event on higher education and research partnerships after Brexit. But first things first, let’s talk about Bolton.

At 8.30pm on Friday evening, a fire broke out in a student hall of residence near the University of Bolton. The fire quickly spread causing the cladding on the building to fizz and melt. The images posted on social media were frighteningly reminiscent of the Grenfell Tower disaster.
