Universities are struggling to provide adequate student protection plans. Could student contracts help?
Strike action might be imminent in universities. The University and College Union’s higher education committee is meeting today to decide, after members in 41 institutions voted to strike over pensions, while in a second ballot members at 54 institutions backed a strike over pay and working conditions.
If strikes do go ahead, universities will need to address how well they are equipped not only to deal with the demands of staff but also of the students affected. And, judging by analysis published by the Office for Students this week, that could be a problem.
