Are we nearly there yet?

It’s the last day of strike action for now, but the election cavalcade rolls on

And on the eighth day, the University and College Union paused its industrial action. Today is the final outing for this tranche of strikes over pay and pensions, but the UCU is starting the re-balloting of 13 universities with a view to them joining further action in the new year.

Ballots open today at institutions including Imperial College London; SOAS, University of London; the University of East Anglia; and Liverpool John Moores University. The 13 institutions originally fell short of the legal threshold of 50 per cent union member participation required for lawful strike action.
