Enhanced monitoring

A Playbook investigation reveals that more than half of all institutions on the Office for Students’ register are under “enhanced monitoring” by the regulator.

The Office for Students’ register is an important document. It tells you all the institutions that have successfully complied with the regulatory framework, and it also shows whether any conditions of registration have been placed on providers—areas in which they need to improve or run the risk of being fined or kicked off the register.

What it does not provide, however, is information about which institutions have been placed under “enhanced monitoring”—a sort of grey area between those universities that have been given a clean bill of regulatory health and those with official conditions placed upon them.
