The Office for Students publishes a briefing note on admissions

The OfS business plan published on 29 April stating that the regulator would target the admissions system in the year ahead. This morning the OfS publishes guidance on the use of contextual admissions.

When it comes to admissions the OfS is torn in two directions. On the one hand, the Director of Fair Access and Participation has been tasked with widening participation, particularly at high-tariff institutions. On the other hand, the regulator is under political pressure to clamp down on unconditional offers and relaxed entry standards.
