The education secretary has updated his priorities for England’s university regulator, and there is some interesting news on higher-level apprenticeships.
It was back in February that education secretary Damian Hinds set out the areas on which he wanted the Office for Students to focus in the 2019-20 financial year.
In that wide-ranging six-page letter, his priorities for the OfS included: completing the process of registering providers as soon as possible; developing its role relating to countering financial mismanagement and fraud; doing more to address high vice-chancellor pay levels; securing “greater and faster” progress in improving access to university for disadvantaged groups; and focusing on “wellbeing, mental health, welfare and harassment and hate crime”.
