Reports on harassment and language learning will make difficult reading for universities
Today, the Office for Students and the Higher Education Policy Institute publish reports on issues that Playbook has followed closely in recent years: harassment and sexual misconduct on campus; and the drop in demand for studying languages. This morning, we take a look at the findings of both reports.
First up is the OfS, which has produced a set of expectations for how universities should handle reports of sexual misconduct, including harassment. This offers a useful starting point for a very necessary discussion about institutional responsibilities in this area, and is now open for consultation. It is vital that universities, students and other higher education bodies pay this consultation more than just lip service.
