It was a busy first week in Westminster for university policy watchers
Back on 19 December, following the Conservative Party’s landslide election victory, the Queen delivered—as is tradition—a speech outlining her government’s priorities for the coming parliament.
The monarch may have other things on her mind just now (too trivial to elaborate on here), but the research community awaits with interest news of how her words (which promised “investment in infrastructure and world-leading science, research and skills”, along with increased tax credits for R&D and an ambition for net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050) will translate into ministerial action.
