The latest figures show that gender equality in higher education is progressing slowly
Advance HE held its first conference on women in higher education yesterday. Some will wonder what took it so long. The organisation, formed from the merger of the Equality Challenge Unit, the Higher Education Academy and the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, was formally launched two years ago, with a remit to help higher education shape its future.
Others might question whether such a conference is still necessary.
