Roadmap for R&D points the way to the prime minister’s ambitions for a ‘science superpower’
Playbook comes to you slightly later than usual today thanks to an odd 9am embargo imposed on the UK Research and Development Roadmap by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. While the content of a BEIS press release has been available for publication since midnight, the 60-page roadmap could not be released until a written ministerial statement by business secretary Alok Sharma was laid before parliament.
That’s an adherence to protocol that is quite uncommon for this government, but there you are. So, if you have been reading other commentaries on the R&D roadmap this morning, they are written by people who either have not read it or have committed a cardinal sin of journalism by breaking an embargo.
