Three vice-chancellors speak to a select committee, and government guidelines for universities finally surface

In the wee small hours of the morning, the Department for Education published revised guidelines on the reopening of university campuses in England. The guidance includes an annex on the use of the NHS track and trace system by staff and students.

It also features updates on the use of face coverings, ventilation of buildings and social gatherings. Universities are told that they should “not assume that everyone understands the official guidelines” and that they must “maintain consistent messaging and guidance”.
