The latest on aid-funded research, the Turing scheme, disadvantaged students and Augar

The effects on research projects of cuts to the overseas aid budget, exclusively revealed by Research Professional News earlier this week, were bad. In fact, they’re worse. UK Research and Innovation has now said that most of its aid-funded research projects are unlikely to be funded beyond 31 July. And it appears that grants that have been awarded but not started will be cancelled. Robin Bisson has the story.

If recent government policy, then, does not seem to favour the neediest in other parts of the world, it does at least appear keen to support those from the most disadvantaged communities in the UK.
