Michelle Donelan raises the stakes in the government’s culture war on ‘Soviet’ universities
Today, Playbook simply does not know where to start in rounding up a weekend of activity in which the universities minister claimed that the “so-called decolonisation of the curriculum is, in effect, censoring history”, and the famously free speech-obsessed Policy Exchange think tank published a report heavily critical of a Cambridge college because it allowed a controversial event to go ahead.
Universities minister Michelle Donelan has a degree in history from the University of York. We wonder if the department there ever taught her that rewriting history is literally what historians are supposed to do.
