Ucas backs a version of post-qualification admissions and the Russell Group backs free speech

A good rule of thumb in the management of universities is to do unto yourself before you are done unto by the government. Reading the runes and being able to jump before you are pushed is often considered an asset among higher education bosses.

So it would seem with the application service Ucas, which yesterday came out in favour of post-qualification admissions. The Department for Education, the Office for Students and Universities UK have all independently been conducting their own reviews of university admissions.
