How have universities fared in the government’s Covid spending?

As some of us look forward to the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam this Saturday, it is worth recalling the words of professor Gina G: “Ooh aah…just a little bit.” They would seem to describe universities’ share of extra public spending during the pandemic.

The clever people over at the Institute for Fiscal Studies have been crunching the numbers on Covid-related spending on education in England. This morning, the IFS publishes a briefing note on expenditure since the start of the pandemic.
