The new chair of the Office for Students will tell university leaders his priorities today

James Wharton is due to make his first speech today as chair of the Office for Students, laying out his priorities at a meeting of Universities UK members.

It will not be the first time he has addressed the subject of universities since he took up the OfS post last month. He spoke out during a debate in the House of Lords on 19 April, when he praised institutions that had offered rent rebates to students during the Covid crisis.
