A tweet and a speech attract attention at the Office for Students

What on earth is going on at the Office for Students? We ask this question after 48 hours of controversy at England’s higher education regulator.

Let’s start with where Playbook left off yesterday, noting a tweet by OfS interim chief executive Susan Lapworth that linked to an article in Spiked Online. The article was critical of Advance HE’s Race Equality Charter and Athena Swan programme. Lapworth said: “I’d expect autonomous universities to be thinking carefully and independently about their free speech duty when signing up to these sort of schemes.”
