It’s time for the big reveal of the delayed assessment exercise
More than seven years since the last one, finally we have another Research Excellence Framework Day as the embargo is lifted on the results of the 2021 exercise. Like the 2020 Olympics and the 2020 Uefa European Football Championship, the event is taking place one year late thanks to the disruption caused by the global pandemic.
Is it worth it? In some university offices up and down the land, they will be breaking out the early morning champagne. In others, lonely figures will sit with their heads in their hands, wondering what happens next.
