The KEF is evolving while we still wait for a review of knowledge exchange metrics
Yesterday saw Research England publish the outcome of its review of the Knowledge Exchange Framework, detailing how it feels the first exercise went, and outlining plans for KEF 2 (return of the KEF).
At first glance, the proposals for the next framework appear to be more evolution than revolution. External investment in spin-outs will now be calculated by looking at companies that survive three years or more, work carried out with trade journals (like us) will now count towards an institution’s output of co-authored research, and a metric attempting to measure the number of days spent on CPD has been scrapped.
