As the country recovers from a day of industrial action on the railways—and prepares for two more this week—the question of public sector pay awards is in the news. Meanwhile, in some universities, University and College Union (UCU) members are engaged in a marking boycott as part of action short of a strike over pay.
Universities, of course, are not the public sector. Well, not technically the public sector.
