The Research Excellence Framework has been postponed until 2029—is all well?

Those who follow association football have become used to controversial delays as the ref mulls over their initial decision. The introduction of video-assisted reviews in football is the cause of frustration for some and entertainment for others—the refereeing community would insist it was about reaching the right decisions, in the end.

This morning, executive chair of Research England Jessica Corner and director of research at Research England Steven Hill are expected to discuss the news that following a consultation on initial decisions for REF 2028, the exercise is to be put back by 12 months. They will be speaking at the Universities UK online research and innovation conference.
