GuildHE looks at gaps in oversight and the OfS is thinking about the future

It has been a lively 24 hours for England’s regulatory landscape, with the Office for Students hosting an insight event on the future of technical education and GuildHE publishing a welcome report on how the relationship between research and regulation can be improved.

Playbook was granted an exclusive first look at GuildHE’s briefing this morning, which takes in the impact of regulation on research. In typically thoughtful fashion, the group of small and specialist institutions looks at the aspects of research policy that have been somewhat overlooked since 2018, when the Higher Education Funding Council for England was disbanded, with its responsibilities divided up between the OfS and UK Research and Innovation.
