What universities did and did not learn from online learning and disadvantaged students during Covid-19

This time three years ago, we were reeling from an announcement by then prime minister Boris Johnson that gave the people of Britain “a very simple instruction. You must stay at home.”

No matter that this instruction proved rather less simple for Johnson’s adviser Dominic Cummings—or later, when it came to work events, for the prime minister himself. It presaged a time of extraordinary upheaval for people all over the country, throwing existing plans and practices dramatically off course.
