Does a pre-election wave of government policy initiatives spell problems for universities?

We are only 4 days away from parliamentary recess at Westminster, so obviously government “sources” are floating news of an imminent swathe of policy proposals. From the same people who brought you “Operation Save Big Dog” comes “Operation Gloves Off”.

It is the last throw of the Tory dice before a general election. This is despite there being barely enough parliamentary business in the Commons to fill the schedules before the shutters come down for summer on 20 July.
