Hepi reveals the steps taken by universities to help alleviate students’ financial pain

Much is often made about how little is being done to help students who are suffering through the cost of living crisis. Only last week, Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham challenged the assembled vice-chancellors at the Universities UK conference “to do more” to help post-Covid students through this inflationary moment.

The Westminster government in particular has been criticised for its limited provision of funds for additional student support, while governments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have also faced rebuke.
