Cara and Ucas both present unprecedented figures
Let’s begin today’s Playbook with the Council for At-Risk Academics, a British charity founded in the 1930s to help rescue university staff from violence, persecution and conflict around the world, which marks its 90th anniversary this year. It has its plate full at the moment, as you might imagine.
This morning, Cara reports that “record numbers” of Ukrainian and Russian academics have been rescued in the 18 months since the start of the invasion of Ukraine by Vladimir Putin’s regime. It says that it has managed to place these at-risk academics in UK universities to continue their “vital research in safety”.
