More Labour speeches pass by with little substance for education policy

Like everyone else, Playbook has long since given up hope of the Labour Party outlining in detail what its higher education policy will be going into the next election—particularly in relation to funding. Prime minister Rishi Sunak has now strongly suggested that the next national vote will take place in the second half of this year.

Increasingly, any 2024 ballot now looks set to conform to the adage that such things are not there to be won by opposition parties but to be lost by those incumbent. That’s why we have had a series of pretty banal statements from the government-in-waiting.
