A UKRI departure, British Academy impact and King’s splashing the cash
Yesterday afternoon, our colleague Robin Bisson broke the news that Ottoline Leyser will not be seeking a second term as chief executive of UK Research and Innovation and will step away from the role next year.
The first hint that Leyser would be leaving UKRI came in a blogpost she published on the funder’s website earlier in the day. Towards the end of the usual claims that UKRI “creates a shared endeavour to deliver national prosperity” came the suggestion that Leyser would not be about to see UKRI lead Britain towards science superpower status.
