Universities are about more than a drive for growth
As had been widely expected, Labour took two constituencies from the Conservatives in by-elections early this morning, including the seat of two-time former universities minister Chris Skidmore.
Kingswood, which Skidmore had held with a majority of more than 11,000 before stepping down in protest at the government’s plans to boost oil and gas drilling in the North Sea, was won by Damien Egan with a swing of more than 16 per cent.
