The EU election result may spell trouble for the future of research on the continent
The UK may not be part of the EU any more, but there will be huge domestic implications following the surge in support for the far right seen across Europe in yesterday evening’s European Parliament election exit polls.
In France, the polls show a huge victory for Marine Le Pen’s National Rally over president Emmanuel Macron’s Renaissance party. After the predicted results were announced, Macron promptly dissolved the French parliament and announced a snap election. If nothing else, the French have been spared the saga of a head of state dilly-dallying over the date.
