Northern Irish university’s plea for £126 million loan to complete Belfast campus project is agreed
Ulster University has been granted a £126 million bailout to finish its delayed and over-budget Belfast expansion scheme.
The university had been forced to ask Northern Ireland’s government for the loan after costs for its Greater Belfast Expansion scheme, which will see a new campus replace most of the university’s Jordanstown campus, ballooned to more than £100m over budget and is now expected to cost £363.9m. The project was originally expected to finish in 2018 but is now not expected to be complete until 2021.
