Scotland seeks softer visa rules

Cross-party group established to press for reinstatement of the post-study work visa in Scotland.

A group including representatives of all major Scottish political parties has been established to identify how a post-study work visa could work in Scotland.

The post-study work visa allowed international students to remain in the UK for two years after graduating from a British university. It was abolished by the UK government in 2012. As immigration is not a devolved matter, Scotland does not have the power to make changes in this area.
