Women on board

Scottish universities set new diversity targets.

Scotland’s universities have pledged to increase the number of women on their governing bodies. At least 40 per cent of governors will be female and 40 per cent male, with the remaining 20 per cent made up by either sex.

The chairs of Scotland’s 18 higher education institutions announced the commitment today, with progress to be reviewed in 2018 to allow existing members to finish their terms. The targets are in line with recognised good practice for companies across Europe, as part of a wider campaign which is run in the UK by the Women on Boards organisation.
