Richard Lochhead, Scotland’s minister for further education, higher education and science, has assured European leaders that Scotland will fight for its “strong relationship” with European universities and research centres.
Lochhead travelled to Brussels on 10 December with a delegation of education, research and science leaders to reassure the European Commission and others that Scotland’s universities would “remain welcoming” no matter what the outcome of Brexit.
His visit came amid media reports that UK prime minister Theresa May had decided to postpone the parliamentary vote in Westminster on her Brexit deal, originally due to take place on 11 December.
