Scottish universities told to recruit more care-leavers

Scotland’s institutions urged to do more to improve access for students with care backgrounds

The Scottish Funding Council has called on universities to ensure that more of their students come from care-experienced backgrounds.

According to the SFC, some 1.4 per cent of under 18s in Scotland have care backgrounds, but they comprised only 0.9 per cent of Scottish-domiciled undergraduate university entrants in 2017-18.
