Scottish Conservative party leader announces support for free tuition at conference
The Scottish Conservatives have done an about face on its support for tuition fees, instead promising that the party will now support free tuition in the country.
Leader of the Scottish Conservatives Douglas Ross confirmed that the party had done a U-turn on tuition fees on 6 October. According to the Scottish Young Conservatives, Ross said the current cohort of young people “have had their education disrupted like no other”, were “losing out on life-defining experiences” and would be “entering the job market at the most difficult time”.
