Trade union calls for a post-qualification application system.
Seven in 10 staff involved in admissions would support a move to university applications taking place after students receive their exam results, according to a survey of University and College Union members.
The trade union said a move to a post-qualification application system would reward “actual achievement rather than predicted results”. The report cites recent research which suggested only half of final A-level results matched the estimates made by teachers earlier in the academic year.
